Biochemistry opens the door to ground breaking research that continuously shapes how the scientific community and general public view various diseases by exploring and breaking down how the disease impacts the body on a chemical level. As an undergraduate student on the pre medicine track, studying biochemistry has provided me a foundation to pursue my interests in neurochemistry in order to hopefully in the future contribute to ongoing research in Alzhemer’s disease, Huntington’s disease, and Parkinson’s disease. Once I obtain a Masters in Biochemistry/Biomedical Science with a concentration in neuroscience and an M.D. , I hope to pair my research with my primary goal of becoming a physician, specifically, a neurosurgeon.
